Restoring Joint Health and Function to Reduce Pain

Purpose of the Study
Many people have acute or chronic pain and it is expensive to treat. We want to identify the relationship between tissue that will be removed during surgery, and how you experience pain. The results from this study could help improve the treatment of pain in the future.
Who is Eligible?
The participant pool comprises 18 to 85-year-old individuals who have planned jaw joint surgery, and 65-year old individuals planned for knee surgery.
What will Happen if I Participate?
The study consists of one study visit on UF Campus prior to your surgery. The visit will include various tests of your ability to feel temperature, pain, and touch, as well as questionnaires. In addition to the study visit, we ask to collect tissue that has been removed during your surgery and would otherwise be discarded. This will be used by the UF PRICE tissue bank for our research.
